SGURR MOR, SUNDAY 9 AUGUST 2009

Only 2 members (Kevin and Ian G.) turned up at the car park at 06:30 for the expedition to Strathan at the head of Loch Arkaig.  The forecast was for reasonable weather with the possibilty of rain later in the afternoon.
Arrived at Strathan for a 10am start up Glen Dessarry taking the track north near the lodge and headed for Glen Kingie.
We followed the stalkers track up to the col between An Eag and Sgurr Beag before the final descent and climb up to the summit of Sgurr Mor (Summited at approx 15:00hrs).    Great all round views particularly west to Sgur na Ciche and Knoydart and east down Glen Kingie.
Returned via col between Sgurr Mor and Sgurr an Fhuarain (Corbett)  was inviting but decided to leave for another day.
Returned to car by 19:00hrs for expectant midgie attack whilst changing gear.  Great weather with cloud base sitting well above summits.
No other walkers/climber were seen all day other than a micro-light aircraft which we later saw landing near Strathan.
Fish supper at the excellent Real Food Cafe, Tyndrum. Home around 23:00 hrs.

A pity more members did not turn out as this was a classic day out on some of our more isolated hills.
