AONACH EAGACH 31 MAY 2009
Donald,Fraser, Malcolm, Ian, Sean, Lawrence and Billy arrived at the car park 7.30am in the sure knowledge that this was a perfect day for traversing a classic ridge that is the Aonach Eagach.
Although Fraser opted for an alternative route, the rest made their way up to Am Bodach in sweltering heat. The 'sold out' sign was already up, pointing to the fact that lots of people had the same idea as ourselves.
This was Lawrence and Ian's first traverse of the Aonach Eagach, so a short rope and some gear was available although not used. The ridge never fails to delight with its airy pinnacles and 'interesting' downclimbing sections.
The views were stunning of course!
A well earned rest was taken at Sgorr Nam Fiannaidh where sunbathing was the order of the day.
At the end of our seven and a half hour day the words - "I'm exhausted" were heard no doubt due to a hearty mix of effort, heat and adrenaline.
We therefore felt obliged to go to the Clachaig for a wee libation.
