Ben Donich - 30 December 2009

Laurence, Koon , Malcolm and Pete turned up for what was supposed to be a repeat of Xmas 1995 when DK, Donald, Allan Carr and Malcolm spent a pleasant day frolicking among the (sun-kissed) ice falls on Ben Donich's north west face. But this was not to be, thanks to vicious northerly gales. Neither was the ice as good as previously.
Nevertheless, the intrepid mountaineers forced a route through the boulder field (in deep powder snow) and up the final chasm on to the ridge, before fleeing back down.
For those who watched the latest remake of " Day of the Triffids", the lashing from spindrift was worse than any Triffid's sting!

A wonderful day had by all, and Koon was delivered back in time for her second Xmas dinner (at the expense of no stop in the pub).
