LAKE DISTRICT 3 JULY 2009

Surprisingly, only Dave K and  Koon met at the car park, the designated co-ordinator and others being on holiday elsewhere.

Anyway a perfect day was had.   An easy drive down took only 2.15 hrs (quicker than going to Fort William) to the White Horse pub at Scales, the starting point.   An easy walk up led to Blea Tarn on a good dry path with no boggy bits.   From here the path climbed up onto Sharp Edge which provided easy scrambling (too easy for Koon) with good holds up to summit ridge of BLENCATHRA.
From the highest point, Hallsfell Top, descent was made down Hall's Fell ridge which also provided easy scrambling back to starting point.
Total time taken was 3 hours 30 minutes.  We were back in Milngavie by 3.15pm. Weather was hot and sunny all day.

Plus points for going to Lakes:  can be reached relatively quickly, very good paths everywhere, no midges and surprisingly on Sunday, not that many people on the hill.
